Alvin Johnson, Jr.

Alvin Johnson, Jr. was born and raised in Williston, FL.  From birth, he has been an aspiring musician.  Later in life, he developed his skill for playing so that his talents would eventually become skill.  He was an “ACTIVE” part of the Williston High School Band program while under the tutelage of his band director, the late John T. Henry.  As a part of the program, Johnson served in many capacities (Lieutenant, Section Leader, and Drum Major).  Because of his love for music, he was inspired to become a band director.

Immediately upon his graduation from WHS in 1999, he fulfilled a life-long dream to attend Florida A&M University to pursue his degree and participate in the World Famous FAMU “Marching 100”.  Even on the college level, Johnson still made a difference in the band program by maintaining his activity in the University Bands.  His level of musicianship made it very easy for him to achieve his goals.  In 2004, he graduated from Florida A&M with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Music Education (cum laude).

After college, Johnson was immediately hired as an Asst. Band Director in Alachua County for 2 years before he would become Head Band director.  After the third year of teaching, Johnson saw fit to come back home to WHS.  The WHS Band is his heart and soul.  In his second year back at WHS, he still seeks to command the best from his students at all times.  He is elated to be back at his roots, where he found his inspiration for what he does.
